When choosing a digital media firm to market your website, how do you evaluate the firm and its marketing or web team? Can you tell if they have all the signs of a quality, experienced, and innovative firm with a long line of satisfied clients, or is the team composed of college graduates from back in the early 1990s who only dwell on HTML?
To properly evaluate a digital media company, you need to find out about the following aspects:
1. Experience is Key to Evaluate the Firm
The first thing you need to find out about any digital media firm that you plan to hire is to check out their track record. Any online marketing company may claim that they’ve been around for over 20 years, but what matters is what they’ve been digitally doing in the past five years when internet marketing began its boom and complications. Reach out to their past clients and search for reviews of the company. Are they doing “jack of all trades” digital media marketing or are they specializing in a more focused marketing strategy like SEO, PPC, or social media? You need to question “jack of all trades” marketing since this is like hitting a bullseye target with a shotgun.
2. Current Work
Past work and experience are a good measuring cup to evaluate a digital marketing firm, but you also need to see just how quickly the firm can adjust to the ever-changing world of internet marketing. Question the firm what current work they are doing now and ask for samples of these such as the client’s current website or social media site. A good and professional digital media firm is not afraid to show you all their work both past and present. They will even encourage you to get in touch with their past and present clients.
3. Look at their Own Website and Social Media
Aside from the work they’re doing for others, look at the digital media firm’s own website and social media site. Do they walk the talk or are their sites seemingly inactive? How updated are their own marketing activities and do they interact with past and present clients? Did the digital media firm even take time to create and update new content to promote themselves or does their site have the same home page it had five years ago? This alone will tell you if the firm is even worth hiring. If they take care of their storefront, then they also know how to take care of their clients.
4. Innovation and Creativeness is Key to Evaluate the Firm
Aside from being able to adapt to changes in technology and internet marketing, does the digital media firm go out of their way to really get to know their clients deeply to formulate an effective internet marketing campaign strategy? When you get to discuss with them face to face, discuss different angles that you want with your business website, its products, or services, and then watch for their reaction. Every time you discuss a certain project angle, they always respond with “we can do that.” However, if their attitude is something like, “that seems hard, but we can try to do this, however…” When you even hear this, find another company.
